John Doll was born in Dodge City, Kansas on July 3, 1957.

Doll has lived in Kansas for his entire life, working at various points in education, agriculture, and as a small business owner. A native of southwest Kansas, he has lived in both Gray and Finney counties.

Doll graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College and attended graduate school at Emporia State University. For 20 years, he taught history and government. Later, he worked as a crop chemical applicator and crop insurance adjustor.

Doll served on the City Commission for Garden City for 5 years and Mayor of Garden City for 1 year.

Doll currently resides in Garden City, Kansas with his wife of 30 years, Janet,

Together they have two children, Hayley, Kansas City and Ethan, Lawrence.
